Younger Futhark

The Younger Futhark, or Scandinavian runes, is a type of runic alphabet and a simplified form of the Elder Futhark. The name "futhark" comes from reading out its first six letters, ᚠᚢᚦᚬᚱᚴ. It consists of 16 letters and was used from around the 9th century, after the "transitional period" of the 7th–8th centuries.
