Wolfram Alpha is a search engine created by physicist Stephen Wolfram, the developer of the mathematical computation program Mathematica. It uses artificial intelligence running on supercomputers to reorganize knowledge on the web and present it to users, and performs simple computations directly.
Launched on May 15, 2009, Wolfram Alpha is built on Mathematica, an early platform with computer algebra, numerical computation, visualization, and statistics capabilities. Additional data is collected from sources such as the CIA's World Factbook, the United States Geological Survey, Dow Jones, and Facebook.
Example
Examples of computations possible with Wolfram Alpha:
- Currency conversion:
1 USD = ? KRW
- Computation.
