Winetricks

Winetricks is a script that can install the basic requirements needed to run Windows programs. Installable components include DirectX 9.x, MSXML (required by Microsoft Office 2007 and Internet Explorer), the Visual Runtime libraries, and more.

Cache Directory

If you plan to back up the cache directory, see the following directory:

~/.cache/winetricks/

How to install

ArchLinux:

sudo pacman -S winetricks

How to use

list categories:

winetricks list

Category list:

winetricks [category] list

Installing all fonts

Downloading takes a long time.

winetricks corefonts
winetricks allfonts

Suppressing warnings

export WINEDEBUG=-all

Troubleshooting

Running /usr/bin/wineserver -w

While installing with winetricks, it may print the following message and stop making progress.

Running /usr/bin/wineserver -w. This will hang until all wine processes in prefix=/home/your/.wine terminate
------------------------------------------------------

In this case, just force-kill the wine processes.

wineserver -k

An Error has occurred while loading imports

If a "Themida" title prints an error message like the following:

An Error has occurred while loading imports. Wrong DLL present.

You need to install a redistributable package or similar that contains the DLLs needed to run it. (Case by case.)
