An open-source Windows app that lets you rewind and search everything on your screen
Intro
- Sometimes, when trying to recall something you read or saw earlier, you can't find it even after digging through every app
- In particular, information scattered across multiple web pages, videos, chat messages, etc. appears and disappears in an instant, so even when you retrace your memory or dig through your browser history, it feels as if it never existed
- Worse, that information may have been deleted, hidden, or modified
How the app works
- Records the screen with ffmpeg into small segment files of 15 minutes each, then indexes them using the Windows local OCR API and image embeddings
- You can also choose to ignore specific programs or screen regions
- All of this can be rewound or searched (by window title, text keyword, image description, etc.) through a local web UI
- Using this data, overview features such as daily and periodic screen time, circadian summaries, and monthly lightbox generation have also been added
