Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is a new communication subsystem that enables applications to communicate on a single computer or across multiple computers connected to a network. WCF applications can be developed in any language that targets the .NET runtime.
It is one of the four APIs introduced as part of .NET Framework 3.0 and is included in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. It is also supported on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
