Wildcard character

A wildcard character is a symbol used to specify multiple files at once when issuing a particular command on a computer. These characters differ slightly depending on where they are used. They are mainly used to find strings or files that match a particular pattern, or to abbreviate long names.

The asterisk (*), question mark (?), and others are used.
