• Compiles libvips, a fast image processing library, to WASM using EMscripten
  • "demand-driven, horizontally threaded": processes only the needed parts of an image and applies threading to the IO system itself
  • Faster processing and lower memory usage than other libraries
  • Supports about 300 operations and a wide range of image formats
• Builds an operation pipeline based on the source image instead of manipulating the image directly
  • Connecting the end of the pipeline to a target runs the whole pipeline at once
  • Streams the image from source to target in parallel
• Parallel processing provides high speed
• Stays lightweight since the whole image does not need to be kept in memory
