WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) refers to a method in which formatted words and sentences on the screen during document editing appear the same as in the printed output. It is distinguished from the method of changing fonts or text formatting by entering editing commands.
Most word processors today use the WYSIWYG method, but HTML and TeX stick to editing through editing commands. This is for the compatibility and general applicability of documents.
