VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a graphical desktop-sharing system that uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer in a computing environment. It transmits keyboard and mouse events from one computer to another and updates the graphical screen over the network. VNC and RFB are registered trademarks of RealVNC Ltd. in the United States and other countries.

Flags
A summary of the options used by the vnc server. (They can also be preset in the VNCSERVERARGS attribute in /etc/sysconfig/vncservers/.)
-
-geometry {WIDTH}x{HEIGHT}: Sets the resolution. (Can be set like 1024x768.) -
{-depth {COLOR}: Sets the color depth. (Can be set like 16, 24, 32.) -
-nolisten tcp: Blocks other types of TCP access. (Without the -nolisten tcp option, tightvnc will also listen for a different type of connection (X11 instead of VNC), which isn't usually very useful.) -
-nohttpd: Does not support the Java applet started on port 5800. -
-localhost: Means the port is not opened on 0.0.0.0. (That is, connections are possible only via 127.0.0.1 localhost.)
Ubuntu 14.x VNC (remote desktop)
- Controlling a Liux (Ubuntu) computer connected to a router from outside via remote desktop connection
- Problems when accessing Ubuntu 14.04 via remote desktop from another operating system
As Ubuntu's VNC server version got newer, it made Encrypted Connect a mandatory requirement, so connection problems may occur. In this case, you can connect by turning off the encrypted connection.
Install dconf-editor from the Ubuntu Software Center or with the following command.
Run dconf-editor from the Unity Dash and go to the setting below.
Then change the require-encryption key to false and reboot.
Ubuntu 20.x VNC

This assumes ssh access is available. Ubuntu has vino installed by default, and it is included in Screen Sharing in GNOME's default settings.
If you need to run the server remotely, connect via ssh with the x11forward option (-Y) (modify sshd-config if necessary) and run gnome-control-center. <- It takes quite a while to launch.
The Ubuntu system settings program then launches; go to Sharing > Screen Sharing and allow connections.
If there is no "Screen Sharing" menu, you need to install vino with the sudo apt install vino command.
If a Segmentation fault error occurs when running gnome-control-center right after installing vino ..... -_-;; Huh?
After that, just use a client such as remmina.
