A new USB boot solution

Command-line usage 

# Ventoy 다운로드 및 설치
wget https://github.com/ventoy/Ventoy/releases/download/v1.0.99/ventoy-1.0.99-linux.tar.gz
tar xzf ventoy-1.0.99-linux.tar.gz
cd ventoy-1.0.99

# USB에 Ventoy 설치 (최초 1회)
sudo ./Ventoy2Disk.sh -i /dev/sdb

# 이후에는 ISO 파일을 USB에 그냥 복사하면 끝
sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb
cp ubuntu-24.04-desktop-amd64.iso /mnt/usb/
# 여러 ISO를 넣어두고 부팅 시 선택 가능

Troubleshooting

Verification Failed : (0x1A) Security Violation

When you try to boot from USB to install Windows, an unfamiliar blue screen appears with the error "Verification Failed : (0x1A) Security Violation", which can be baffling.

Until now, the fix for this error was to turn off the UTFI security option on the motherboard. But as time passed and Windows 11 was released, Secure Boot enabled became the default option. Now it is time to do a proper USB secure boot instead of disabling the UTFI security option.

Solution:

  1. Select Enroll key from disk (let's read the security KEY from the disk.)
  2. Select VOTYEFI
  3. Select ENROLL_THIS_KEY_IN_MOKMANAGER.cer (the security key generated by Ventoy)
  4. Select Continue
  5. Select Yes
  6. Select Reboot
