USB-C, or USB Type-C, is a 24-pin USB connector system that allows the transmission of both data and power. It is distinguished from reversible connectors, which are symmetrical top to bottom.
The USB Type-C Specification 1.0 was published by the USB-IF and finalized in August 2014. It was developed at roughly the same time as the USB 3.1 specification.
Devices that implement USB-C are not required to implement USB 3.1, USB Power Delivery, or Alternate Mode.
