TrueType is an outline font standard developed by Apple Computer in the late 1980s as a competitor to the Type 1 fonts used in Adobe's PostScript. The main advantage of TrueType is that it gives font developers a high degree of control over how fonts are displayed at various font sizes; this is called hinting technology or hinting instructions.

File extensions that use this font standard for EUDC include .ttf and .tte.
