A tablet computer (North Korean: panhyeong kompyuteo), commonly shortened to tablet or simply tab, is a mobile device that typically combines a mobile operating system, a touchscreen display, processing circuitry, and a rechargeable battery in a single thin, flat package. Because tablets are computers, they have similar functions, but lack some of the I/O capabilities that other computers have. Modern tablets are based on smartphones, the only difference being that tablets are relatively larger than smartphones, with screens 7 inches (18 cm) or larger measured diagonally, and may not support cellular network connectivity. Unlike laptops (which have traditionally used operating systems designed for desktops), tablets usually use the same mobile operating systems as smartphones.
