The SyntaxHighlight extension, formerly known as SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi, highlights source code when the ‎<syntaxhighlight> tag is used. It uses the Pygments library and supports a wide range of languages, including over 100 programming languages, markup languages, SQL, and shell scripts.

Like the ‎<pre> and <poem> tags, text is rendered exactly as it was entered.
