Syncthing

lastmod 2025-08-19created 2018-09-053 edits

Syncthing applies to both desktop and server projects. In theory, it is useful for both purposes. However, I would like to call it a desktop project, to emphasize that Go is useful for desktop applications as well.

Syncthing implements a protocol for creating synced folders across multiple devices. The most recent project is BitTorrent Sync (BitTorent Sync).

In Syncthing, too, Go's typical advantages, such as simplicity, speed, concurrency, and easy cross-platform deployment, provided the grounds for adopting it in Syncthing. A Syncthing client could also be built in Python or C, but the Go version aims to be cross-platform.
