Used to split files; it serves the opposite purpose of cat.

Splitting a file into pieces of a specific size

You can split a file into pieces of a fixed size as follows.

split -b 700m source.iso source.iso.

The files are created as source.iso.aa, source.iso.ab ... and so on. The resulting files can be merged with cat.

cat source.iso.* > source.iso

Example

• split -l [라인수] [파일경로]: splits a file by number of lines.
