SolidWorks (SOLIDWORKS) is one of the brands offered by Dassault Systemes. It started as a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program, but now provides a variety of design- and manufacturing-related solutions such as data management (PDM), visualization (Visualization), and manufacturing support (MBE).

SolidWorks runs primarily on Microsoft Windows, but its additional solutions are being extended to support multiple operating systems. SolidWorks was released by Dassault Systèmes.

With strengths such as ease of use, a vertically integrated software package optimized for 3D design/engineering that spans a wide range of industries (product design, mechanism design, mechanical design, electrical design, electronics, medical, and more), and compatibility with a variety of 3D/2D files, it is used by more than about 250,000 companies and more than 5.9 million engineers and designers worldwide (including educational licenses), and is especially widely used by American and European companies. In Korea, too, it is used by many small and medium-sized businesses with capabilities ranging from product design to manufacturing. SolidWorks is the most widely used proven 3D CAD in the world.

In addition to its 3D CAD software, which lets ideas be realized quickly and conveniently, SolidWorks also supplies products such as eDrawings, collaboration tools, and the 2D CAD Draftsight.

True to its concept of "easy-to-use 3D CAD," it boasts a considerably easier and more intuitive way of use compared with enterprise 3D CAD tools such as CATIA and NX (Unigraphics). Anyone with reasonable spatial perception and basic office tool skills at about the level of Excel can learn it, regardless of educational background. There are also plenty of Korean and international books and video courses for learning it.
