Social science is a branch of science that studies the social phenomena arising from relationships between people and the social behavior of humans. Social science studies social phenomena using scientific methods that developed under the influence of advances in the natural sciences. In that sense, like the natural sciences, social science can be called a science that builds a body of empirical knowledge. Unlike the natural sciences, however, social science studies relationships between people, so questions of values inevitably arise. There are therefore limits to investigating and explaining social phenomena with the same methods as the natural sciences. Still, because social phenomena also show their own regularities, social science is able to explain them.
