Shotcut is a free and open-source, cross-platform video editing application for FreeBSD, Linux, macOS, and Windows. Started in 2011 by Dan Dennedy, Shotcut is developed on top of the MLT multimedia framework, which has been developed by the same developer since 2004.

Spotlight Effect

To create a spotlight effect, go through the following steps.

1. Create a black color preset.
2. Put that source on the timeline.
3. Add the following filters, in order, to the source on the timeline.
   1. "Mask: Simple Shape"
      • Operation: Subtract
      • Shape: Rectangle (or whatever shape you want, if needed)
   2. "Opacity"
      • Level: 76 (whatever opacity you want)

Removing chroma key

Just select "Chroma Key: Simple" in the filters.

You have to either implement it with CSS Animation in the HTML Viewer, or work around it by placing each Keyframe step one by one.
