Session

In computer science, and especially in networking, a session refers to a secure dialogue and time period that denotes a conversation or transmit/receive connection state between two or more communicating devices, or between a computer and a user, premised on a semi-permanent, interactive exchange of information. Therefore, a session places more importance on the stability of the connection state than on maintaining the connection state.
Establishing a session is a basic requirement for performing connection-oriented communication. A session is also a basic step for transmitting in connectionless mode. However, unidirectional transmission does not define a session.
