The secondary sector (secondary industry) is the sector of the economy that produces finished goods, such as production and construction. Examples include manufacturing, civil engineering and construction, and electricity and gas supply. This sector takes the products of the primary sector and manufactures finished goods. It is usually divided into light industry and heavy industry.
