In many situations you need to rescale your data.

For example:

• When the variables differ too much in scale during analysis (when the scale of the numbers differs greatly because of differences in the variables' units)
• When training a neural network, if the values in the dataset are uneven or very large, the cost diverges and training does not proceed normally.

This is solved with scaling.
