A ship's Rudder is connected to the Steering Gear (Korean: 조타기) above it through a shaft called the Rudder Stock (Korean: 러더스톡; Korean: 타축).
The torque produced by the Steering Gear is transmitted to the shaft, and the Rudder connected to it rotates along with it, changing the ship's direction of travel.
