The root-mean-square deviation (Root Mean Square Deviation; RMSD) or root-mean-square error (Root Mean Square Error; RMSE) is a measure commonly used when dealing with the difference between values estimated or predicted by a model and the values observed in the real environment. It is well suited to expressing precision. Each individual difference is also called a residual, and the root-mean-square deviation is used to aggregate the residuals into a single measure.
