Robotics is an interdisciplinary field of research and application concerned with the design, construction, operation, and use of robots. Mechanical engineering focuses on designing and building the physical structure of robots, whereas computer science focuses on algorithms for robot automation. Beyond these, many other fields contribute to robotics, including electrical engineering, control engineering, software engineering, information engineering, electronic engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics engineering, and materials engineering.
