Could not read symbols

• KLDP: Is it impossible to make a static library (.a) using a static library (.a)?

The following error message may be printed during a build.

could not read symbols: Archive has no index; run ranlib to add one

In this case, you need to generate the index table using ranlib [library name]. Alternatively, use the ar utility as shown below.

$ ar x libname.a
$ ar rcs libadd2.a *.o
