Information
- ASUS unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 dual-band router
- ASUS today announced the RT-BE88U, the world's first WiFi 7 router offering up to 34Gbps of combined wired network capacity. With a 10Gbps LAN/WAN port, a 10Gbps LAN/WAN SFP+ port, and four 2.5Gbps ports, the RT-BE88U is ready to deliver massive amounts of Ethernet performance for online gaming, media streaming, and more, now and in the future. It also delivers cutting-edge WiFi 7 networking of up to 7200Mbps, bringing the improved data rates of 4K-QAM and dual-band multi-link operation to compatible devices. In addition, Guest Network Pro, subscription-free security features, and site-to-site VPN support make it possible to build a flexible, secure, and easy-to-manage network based on the RT-BE88U.
- Advantages of WiFi 7
- With WiFi 7 cornerstones such as the improved data rates of 4K-QAM and dual-band multi-link operation (MLO), the ASUS RT-BE88U opens up entirely new networking possibilities. 4K-QAM packs signals more densely to increase speed, improving bandwidth efficiency. As a result, data rates can be up to 20% higher than what WiFi 6 networks can achieve. Meanwhile, dual-band multi-link operation (MLO) lets WiFi 7 devices connect to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, increasing throughput and minimizing latency. This provides a future-proof network, giving users the ability to handle more connected devices without performance degradation.
- Up to 34Gbps of wired network capacity
- The ASUS RT-BE88U provides a 10Gbps Ethernet port and a 10Gbps SFP+ port, both capable of LAN or WAN operation. It also offers auto-detection and support for multi-WAN. Depending on the network configuration, the RT-BE88U can provide up to 9 LAN ports. The 10Gbps connections, which deliver ultra-fast performance for NAS servers and media servers, provide smooth streaming throughout the home. This port array can also provide the stability and low latency of Ethernet connections when needed. Meanwhile, this abundant bandwidth enables the RT-BE88U to deliver premium-grade network performance to creators working with large 4K or even 8K video files stored on local servers.
- A powerful suite of additional networking features
- As a premium-grade router, the ASUS RT-BE88U includes features that help users create their ideal network. If the WAN connection becomes unavailable, simply connect a smartphone to the router's USB 3.0 port and connect the network to a 4G/5G mobile data connection instead. Guest Network Pro can also quickly split the network into sections for IoT, VPN, and child-safe use. This is a bonus feature that comes with VLAN support, allowing users to organize devices into virtual groups and determine rule sets for security and access. When it comes to VPN, the RT-BE88U offers site-to-site functionality powered by WireGuard.
If users just want a traditional secure network, they can turn on AiProtection Pro, provided by Trend Micro, at any time to protect devices from cyber threats such as webcam hacking, website phishing, or ransomware. Or, if users simply want to extend their network, ASUS AiMesh makes the process easy. The RT-BE88U is designed from the ground up to deliver powerful performance, security, and flexibility.
