RPython (←Restricted Python) is a subset of the Python programming language. It was developed for developing PyPy.
It restricts features for efficient static compilation. Unlike standard Python, it uses static types.
A translator can convert RPython code into low-level languages such as C, Java bytecode, and Common Intermediate Language. There is a generator that builds a JIT compiler for an interpreter. The generated JIT compiler is a tracing JIT.
