ROCm is AMD's (Advanced Micro Devices) software stack for GPU (graphics processing unit) programming. ROCm spans several domains, including general-purpose computing on graphics processing units (GPGPU), high-performance computing (HPC), and heterogeneous computing. It offers several programming models, such as HIP (GPU kernel-based programming), OpenMP/MPI (Message Passing Interface) (directive-based programming), and OpenCL.
ROCm is free and open-source software (excluding GPU firmware blobs) and is distributed under various licenses. ROCm is an abbreviation of the Radeon Open Compute platform.
