Quadrant (plane geometry)

A quadrant is one of the four regions of the Cartesian coordinate plane divided by the x-axis and the y-axis. The first quadrant is the region where both x and y are positive, the second quadrant is the region where x is negative and y is positive, the third quadrant is the region where both x and y are negative, and the fourth quadrant is the region where x is positive and y is negative.
