About

Qemu is an open-source hardware emulator and is also used as a virtualization tool. KVM, Linux's kernel-based virtualization tool, runs on top of Qemu. To make use of KVM, you need to understand and be able to use Qemu. This page covers technical topics related to Qemu. In this wiki, Qemu and KVM are used to mean the same thing. KVM was officially included in the kernel starting with Linux 2.6.20.
