A tool that processes command-line commands as a queue

About

  • A command-line task management tool that can run long-running tasks sequentially or in parallel
  • Not tied to a single terminal; through a background daemon (pueued), tasks keep running even after the SSH session ends
  • Provides a range of features including scheduling, task group management, process control, and crash recovery
    • Scheduling: supports adding tasks, running multiple tasks concurrently (with a configurable number of concurrent tasks), reordering, setting dependencies, and scheduling runs at a specific time
    • Interacting with processes: easy output inspection, sending input to running tasks, pausing/resuming processes
    • Task group management: create multiple queues to run in parallel, pause and resume per group
    • Background execution: the pueued daemon keeps running whether or not you are logged in, preserving environment variables and the working directory
    • Reliability: queues and logs are saved to disk and can be recovered even after a system crash
    • Other features: JSON output for log and status, callback hooks for notifications, waiting for specific tasks (wait)
  • Supports Linux, MacOS, and Windows; built in Rust and simple to install and use
  • Not a complex distributed scheduler but a tool focused on intuitive task management in a single-user environment

Usage

  • pueue add '명령어' - Add a new task to the queue
  • pueue status - Check the current task status
  • pueue log / pueue follow - View logs of finished tasks or watch output in real time
  • pueue pause, pueue start, pueue kill - Execution control
  • pueue group - Add/remove/list groups
  • pueue wait - Wait until a specific task, group, or everything finishes
  • pueue reset - Stop all tasks and reset
