A printer (refined Korean term: 인쇄기, inswaegi, "printing machine") is a computer output device that makes a hard copy (a copy, usually text or graphics printed on paper) of data stored on the computer it is connected to. In South Korea the word 프린터기 (peurinteogi, "printer machine") is also used, but since the term "printer" itself already means "a machine that prints", this is an incorrect expression. In the past, transfer printers, dot matrix printers, and the like were used, but today inkjet printers and laser printers are widely used.

Difference between LPR and RAW in network printer settings

The difference between LPR and RAW is the difference in how print data is sent from the PC to the printer.

  • LPR goes through a step of checking whether the transfer succeeded after the PC sends the print Data to the printer.
  • RAW does not check whether the transfer succeeded after the PC sends the print Date to the printer.
