In web development, a polyfill is code that implements a feature on web browsers that do not support it.

It lets you implement the desired feature on web browsers that do not support it, but it has drawbacks: loading the polyfill plugin increases time and traffic, adding per-browser features makes the code very long, and performance degrades significantly.
