A property list is a file used for object serialization in programming software frameworks such as Mac OS X, iOS, NeXTSTEP, and GNUstep. Because it has the .plist extension, it is often simply called a plist file. Property list files are usually used to store user settings. They are also used to store information about bundles and application software, and in earlier Mac OS versions they were used to store resource fork information.
