A PPA (Personal Package Archive) is a personal software package repository provided by Launchpad for third-party software that is not in Ubuntu's official package repositories. It not only stores software packages but also provides updates for that software.

How to add
What is a PPA (Personal Package Archive)? It is a personal package repository. A PPA is a personal software package repository provided by Launchpad (one of the well-known package repositories) for third-party software (you can ignore this term) that is not in Ubuntu's official package repositories. Once you add a PPA repository, you can install the added programs with a command or with Ubuntu Software.
Add a line like the following to the /etc/apt/sources.list file.
For the /etc/apt/sources.list file, see Advanced Package Tool#SourcesList.
How do I create a PPA?
Using a Personal Package Archive (PPA), you can distribute software and updates directly to Ubuntu users. Create your source package, upload it and Launchpad will build binaries and then host them in your own apt repository.
- Create a Launchpad Account.
- Activate a PPA.
- You can only activate a PPA if you have signed the Ubuntu code of conduct.
- What are PPAs and how do I use them?
