A permalink is a URL permanently assigned to a specific page on the Internet. Because the address is meant to last forever once it is set, the word was coined by shortening permanent link, meaning a permanent address. The translation "permanent link" (yeonggu ringkeu) is closer to the original meaning, but in Korea the names "unique link" (goyu ringkeu) and "unique address" (goyu juso) are widespread.
A typical use of permalinks can be seen in blogs. Since blog posts easily change position as new content is added over time, each post is given an address that stays fixed forever.
