Packer is one of the infrastructure management tools made by Hashicorp.
Hashicorp makes a variety of infrastructure automation / support tools, including Vagrant, well known as a virtual environment management tool, the server cluster tool Serf, the service discovery tool Consul, and Terraform, which supports resource sharing across heterogeneous platforms. Packer is likewise one of these infrastructure automation tools, and supports creating images usable on various platforms.
