PGMQ
lastmod 2026-04-20created 2024-05-206 edits
A lightweight message queue. Like AWS SQS and RSMQ but on Postgres.
A Postgres-based alternative to SQS
Features
- Open source implementation of a lightweight message queue, similar to AWS SQS and RSMQ, on top of Postgres
- Built purely as a Postgres extension, with no background workers or external dependencies
- Guarantees 'exactly once' message delivery to a consumer within a visibility timeout
- Messages remain in the queue until explicitly removed
- Messages can be archived instead of deleted, for long-term retention and replay
- API-compatible with AWS SQS and RSMQ
