Describes how to install OpenStack.

DevStack

Ubuntu install

See the page below:

OpenStack:Install:UbuntuSingleNode

CentOS 7 install

Recommended specs:

  • Controller Node: 1 processor, 2 GB memory, and 5 GB storage
  • Network Node: 1 processor, 512 MB memory, and 5 GB storage
  • Compute Node: 1 processor, 2 GB memory, and 10 GB storage

If you use VMs, the hypervisor must support promiscuous mode,
and MAC address filtering must be turned off on the external network.

Network interface

Installguidearch-neutron-networks.png

  • Rename the Ethernet card from enp0s3 to eth0.
  • Change the hostname to match each node: vi /etc/hostname
  • Register the hosts of all other nodes.
  • Stop and disable NetworkManager.

Network Time Protocol

Edit the /etc/ntp.conf file on the controller node to change access permissions.

$ server NTP_SERVER iburst
$ restrict -4 default kod notrap nomodify
$ restrict -6 default kod notrap nomodify

Set the NTP server of the other nodes to the controller node. <span style="color:red; font-weight:bold">(servers other than controller must be removed)

$ server controller iburst

If a firewall is configured on the controller node, don't forget to open the NTP port (UDP 123) as well.

$ firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=smtp
$ firewall-cmd --reload

OpenStack packages

Install the OpenStack packages on all nodes.

$ yum install -y yum-plugin-priorities
$ yum install -y http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-5.noarch.rpm
$ yum install -y http://rdo.fedorapeople.org/openstack-juno/rdo-release-juno.rpm
$ yum upgrade
$ yum install -y openstack-selinux

Database

Install the database on the Controller node.

$ yum install -y mariadb mariadb-server MySQL-python

After installation is complete, add the following to the /etc/my.cnf file.

[mysqld]
bind-address = 10.0.0.11

default-storage-engine = innodb
innodb_file_per_table
collation-server = utf8_general_ci
init-connect = 'SET NAMES utf8'
character-set-server = utf8

Then start the DB.

$ systemctl enable mariadb.service
$ systemctl start mariadb.service

Configure the security-related settings for the database service.

$ mysql_secure_installation

Messaging server

Install RabbitMQ on the Controller node.

$ yum install -y rabbitmq-server
