Smoothing, or blurring, is a very simple yet frequently used image processing technique. Smoothing is mainly used to reduce noise or damage in an image. Smoothing also plays an important role when reducing the size of an image. OpenCV currently provides five smoothing methods. All smoothing operations are implemented in a single function, cvSmooth(), and the operation method is determined by the function's arguments.

public static void Smooth(CvArr src, CvArr dst, SmoothType smoothtype, int param1);
public static void Smooth(CvArr src, CvArr dst, SmoothType smoothtype, int param1, int param2);
public static void Smooth(CvArr src, CvArr dst, SmoothType smoothtype, int param1, int param2, double param3);
