Chatting refers to two or more users exchanging text messages over a network in real time. Chatting has been a popular method since the days of PC communication services, where users enter a chat room to talk. More recently, with the development of the internet and webcams, new technologies such as voice chat and video chat have become widespread. Simple instant messengers that do not use chat rooms are also widely used.
