A new Unix shell.

Oil is a new Unix shell. It's our upgrade path from bash to a better language and runtime. It's also for Python and JavaScript users who avoid shell!

Features

• Upgrades bash to a better language and runtime
• A shell is both a UI and a language ⇨ consists of two languages, OSH and Oil
  • OSH : a POSIX & bash compatible shell implementation. Runs existing shell scripts
  • Oil : a new shell language that is easy to learn and write. Designed for developers familiar with Python/JS, etc. Supports dynamic typing and structured data
• Written in open-source Python, then translated to C++ to make it small and fast. The final executable has no Python dependency
