Ohm's law states that the current flowing due to the potential difference (voltage) between two points of a conductor follows a fixed law.[1] When a constant potential difference exists across a conductor between two points, the magnitude of the conductor's resistance and the magnitude of the current are inversely proportional.
- I is the current flowing in the wire, in amperes (A, ampere)
- V is the potential difference across the ends of the conductor, in volts (V, volt)
- R is the electrical resistance of the conductor, in ohms (Ω, ohm)
In particular, in Ohm's law the resistance R is a constant and independent of the current.
