OMG (Object Management Group) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 to establish technical standards for distributed objects, and more than 800 companies currently participate in it. Its members include HP, IBM, Sun, and Apple. It also standardizes a new focus for modeling and model-based technologies. OMG attempts to create heterogeneous distributed object standards. The goal is to create common object models, researching ways to help and advance their use for development on all types of platforms and in various environments.
