Network bridge

A networking method in which the guest computer does networking by bridging (connecting) the host's network and the guest's network.
In other words, it connects the host and guest into one, using two networks as if they were a single network.
In bridged networking, the guest computer's network adapter and the host computer's network adapter are connected to the VMnet0 switch and bridged to each other. By bridging the guest and host networks this way, the host network and the guest network are provided with networking at an equal level.
Since the host and guest have equal standing, the guest computer can be assigned a public IP just like the host computer, or, if the host computer is connected to a private network, an IP in the same range as the host. In this case, there must be a spare IP, public or private, that can be assigned to the guest computer.

A network bridge (North Korean standard: mangdari) connects multiple network segments at the data link layer of the OSI model. The term layer 2 switch is sometimes used synonymously with bridge. Bridges are similar to repeaters and network hubs, which are devices that connect network segments at the physical layer, but using a bridge means managing the traffic coming from a particular network rather than simply retransmitting it to surrounding network segments. In Ethernet networks, the term "bridge" formally refers to a device that conforms to the IEEE 802.1D standard.
Bridges tend to be more complex than hubs or repeaters. A bridge can analyze incoming data packets to determine whether it can forward a given packet to the network of another segment.
Since bridging takes place at the data link layer of the OSI model, a bridge processes information from the data of each frame it receives. In an Ethernet frame, this provides the source and destination MAC addresses of the frame. Bridges use two methods to determine which network segment a MAC address belongs to.
- Transparent bridging - In this method, the path to a node is found based on previous experience, according to the address of the new node being transmitted. The sender does not need to know whether a network bridge exists.
- Source route bridging - In this method, two frame types are used to find the route to the destination network segment. Single-Route (SR) frames make up most network traffic and set the destination, while All-Route (AR) frames are used to find routes.
