Network booting

lastmod 2025-11-10created 2023-07-114 edits

Network booting refers to an environment in which a computer can boot over the computer network it belongs to. In this situation, the operating system is already stored on the server's disk, and specific parts of it are stored on the client using a simple protocol such as the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP). After these parts are transferred, the operating system goes through the boot process.
