Network Security

Network Security consists of the basic provisions or policies in the underlying computer network infrastructure that a network administrator uses against attempts to access a network, and resources accessible through the network, without authorization.

The concepts of network security and information security are sometimes used interchangeably. However, network security generally provides protection at the boundary of an organization against intruders (e.g. black hat hackers, script kiddies, Trudy, etc.).
