Usually, when building a container image, only the minimal environment needed to run is set up, to reduce size and strengthen security. So various testing commands are left out. This makes it hard to trace network problems directly in a Kubernetes cluster. That's why there is netshoot, a separate container that includes various tools needed to trace network problems. It includes a variety of commands needed to test the network environment inside a container.
