💫 Nebula: An open-source secret management solution secure, scalable, and flexible handling of secret across multiple domains.
A secret manager that is an alternative to centralized vaults such as Hashicorp Vault and Infisical.
About
Have you ever thought about the limitations of centrally managed Secret Management Solutions? In a structure where a single server or service centrally manages sensitive information and credentials, the management system can collapse if the central server is hacked or through insider threats.
In addition, with a centralized vault, data owners cannot set permissions on their own data.
Key functions and features
- Distributed management via MA-ABE (Multi-Authority Attribute-Based Encryption)
- Instead of relying on a single central server, keys are distributed across multiple authorities. This minimizes the impact on the overall secret management system even if a particular authority is compromised.
- Attribute-based encryption and access control policies
- Data owners control access to their data, so it can be shared securely with third parties
- E2EE (End-to-End Encryption)
- Secrets are encrypted and decrypted on the user side, and security is maintained without exposing plaintext throughout transmission and storage.
- Rust-based implementation and WASM client support
- Implemented in Rust for high stability and performance, and easy to integrate through the WASM client.
